Setting the Record Straight (No, We're Not a Religion)

Of all the rumours that have done the rounds about this place, this is the one that made us properly laugh. Word went about that the club had been bought by some religious group as a base of some kind. We promise you it hasn't.

The club's owners are us - Simon and Michelle - two friends who've known each other 30-odd years and wanted to bring this building back to life for the area. That's the whole story. No group, no organisation, no hidden anything behind us.

The only cult following you'll find at Trent Country Club is the quiz night, and the only thing we're trying to convert anyone to is a decent Friday out.

When we open, it'll be exactly what we've said all along: a bar, a function room, somewhere for weddings, wakes, birthdays and the like, and a proper place for the community. Plus after that, leisure, sports and wellness in the old sports centre. Nothing more mysterious than that.

If you hear something about the club that sounds a bit wild, do us a favour and just ask - there's a contact form on the home page, and we read every message ourselves. We'd much rather tell you the boring truth than let a good rumour run.
