No, We're Not Opening a Scam Call Centre

This is one of our favourites. Word went round that the club was being turned into one of those dodgy call centres - the kind that ring your nan about a car accident she never had.

We can see how it started. We've set up some temporary offices in the old carvery so we've somewhere to work from while the refit's going on, and someone's clearly clocked the desks and a bit of wiring going in and put two and two together to make five. Fair play for the imagination, but no.

Here's the giveaway: the building doesn't even have a phone line yet. Hard to run a call centre with no phones. The desks are for us and the handful of people helping us get this place open - nothing more sinister than a few laptops and a kettle.

The building is a club. A bar, a function room, somewhere for the community - same as we've said all along.

The carvery's just where we're camped out for now while the work goes on around us; in time that whole side of the building gets its proper makeover too.

If you ever hear something about the place that sounds a bit far-fetched, there's a contact form on the home page. Ask us - we'd honestly rather have the daft rumours put to us straight so we can have a laugh and set them right.
